Mike and Tracy took over the inn in 2005 and have been very successful, attracting many more customers and bringing their own personality to the business.They have undertaken an extensive programme of refurbishment and improvements to further enhance the excellent reputation and facilities of this unique and historic inn. However, its historic character remains - the bar is full of character with its open beams and stone-flagged floor, whilst a welcoming fire blazes in the grate every day of the year.

It is in the heart of real Walking Country and is on the Pennine Way, Britain's first long distance footpath, plus the popular Coast to Coast Walk. Both pass close by our door - and there are many excellent rambles throughout the area for all abilities. Many casual ramblers and ardent walkers gratefully pass over the threshold to enjoy our renowned hospitality. But the Tan Hill Inn has its own legendary spirit walker.....a ghost, that of a certain Mrs Peacock who ran the inn for 40 years! She is said to appear whenever alterations are being made, when she oversees the work!

The Tan Hill Inn is a very special place, occupying a lonely site, high in the Yorkshire Dales. It is in fact, the highest pub in Great Britain at 1,732ft above sea level. Here you will receive one of the warmest and most friendly welcomes that you could ever wish to find.

Countless generations have enjoyed its fine hospitality as an oasis of refreshment and accommodation amidst the beautiful heather-clad purple Pennine moorland capping the numerous green unspoilt Yorkshire dales. It possesses a long and rich history.

We are pleased to be able to offer you comfortable, classically decorated bedrooms with comfortable beds and modern en-suite facilities. Each room also has a television and tea/coffee making facilities. There are seven bedrooms - two double bedrooms, one triple bedroom and four twin bedrooms, plus a self-catering cottage and bunk barn facilities. Our newly refurbished lounge is non-smoking and has daily morning newspapers available for our residents to read. Breakfast is usually served in the Dining Room between 8am and 9am.

We are a free house serving cask conditioned ales from Theakstons and Black Sheep as well as a wide range of premium beers, cider and spirits. Located at the famous Tan Hill near the head of Arkengarthdale and on the edge of beautiful Swaledale, this lovely country inn is an excellent base for exploring the Northern Dales and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, plus nearby Teesdale and the North Pennines, as well as the Lake District.

ACCOMMODATION - COST OF ROOMS
Deposits £10 per person per night and NON REFUNDABLE.
In all cases for Dogs - £5 per stay - no more than 1 dog per room and MUST BE informed at time of booking. Any damage caused to room by dogs will be charged for before departure.

DOUBLE ROOMS:
Rooms 1 and 7 are £80 per night (no singles unless 2 days notice and at a rate of £60 per night).
£15 per night for an extra bed in room.

TWIN ROOMS:
Rooms 3, 4, 5 and 6 are £70 per night (single in room £50).
£15 per night for an extra bed in room).

TRIPLE ROOM:
Room 2 is £90 per night (2 persons in room £70)
£15 per night for an extra bed in room).

BUNK ROOM:
Bunk Room Beds £25 per person including full Englidh Breakfast (May share with other guest in same room - mixed sex rooms)
